The first thing I think when I see those "Idiot's guides" is "Why am I going to buy a book that insults me right off the bat?" Well, as insulting as the title may be, this book is actually very helpful.
The problem is that the whole concept of running a home-based business has been corrupted with the idea of it being easy. A lot of people think that if they can work from home, then they won't have to work as hard as they would if they went to an office everyday. This is not the case. In fact, until the industrial revolution, most people worked from their homes. The idea of "going to work" was foreign to a world of blacksmiths, farmers, bakers, and shoemakers. Typically, people lived right above their place of business and the entire family pitched in. This way of life is starting to make a comeback.
This Idiot's Guide does a remarkable job of covering all the aspects you never thought of. Most of us wouldn't even know where to begin, but the book takes care of that. Covering topics from what type of business to start, to designing a business plan, to getting loans, to getting paid, to laying out your office, to marketing, to insurance, to paying taxes, etc, this book is a great reference for any home business venture.
I've found a lot of books about starting a business, but none cover these topics in as clear and concise of a manner as does The Complete Idiot's Guide to Starting a Home-Based Business. After reading this book, I am no longer an idiot in my home-based business dealings - I'm a pro.
