dsc_s50 (14k image)The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S50 is a remarkable little camera. When I use something, I typically use it into the ground. So when I get a piece of electrical equipment, it needs to be able to take a little abuse.

I took this camera all the way to Prague, Czech Republic for a month. On the trip this camera was constantly tossed around in my book bag, or stuck in my pocket in which case I fell on it once and I smashed into a wall. Then I carried it around strapped to my wrist and people would often bump it on accident, and lets not forget how I flat out dropped it on the concrete. I thought that was the end, but it sure wasn't. Not only did it take great pictures, but it also stayed in one piece. This camera, though not for professionals, works great for an average tourist such as myself.

The camera comes with a 4 MB memory stick, but can be upgraded to a memory stick of 32 MB, 64 MB, or 128 MB. With that much memory, you can shoot pictures all day and never run out. The Cyber-shot has options for photo quality, style, and size ranging up to 1600 x 1200 pixels. The camera also has the ability to take 15-second MPEG videos and voice recordings.

The only qualm I have for this particular model is that the charger is huge and the battery only lasts an average of two hours before it has to be recharged. Carrying this extremely small camera is easy, but the charger is bigger than the camera.

This was my first digital camera and was given to me by my brother. Even though digital cameras are continually being updated, the Cyber-shot is a great introduction into the digital camera world.
