At Chancellorsville explaining the events at McLaws' Line.

Digital Survivors is the online home of me, Scott Manning. Here you will find articles and reviews covering mostly history-related topics. There are also forums where you can discuss just about anything including history, politics, sports, and video games.

I am currently a business analyst for a large software company outside of Philadelphia. While software pays the bills, my real passion is history, specifically war. I am currently an undergraduate at American Military University working on a degree in military history. I subscribe to the statement by Malcolm X that says, "History is a people's memory, and without a memory man is demoted to the lower animals." Everything that occurred in this world has accumulated to produce our present day. By understanding these events, we can better understand ourselves. Even more so, wars have the greatest impact on people, culture, and nations. Ultimately, I find all things military to be damn interesting.

My wife, Dawn, is also a student. We both love cultures, history, and traveling. She finished her bachelor's in anthropology in 2009 and she is currently working on a master's in writing. We have traveled a lot over the years. I have been to Guatemala, Thailand, Malaysia, and Nepal, and with Dawn, I have been to China, the Czech Republic, Costa Rica, Austria, and most recently, Mexico.

If I am not paying the bills or working on my degree, I am exploring battlefields, playing poker, or smoking cigars. That is the gist of me and my life.
