I chose the iRiver H10 because it is one of the view players that is compatible with Napster's To Go service which allows me to put all my downloaded songs onto the player.
The thing is small, cute, and grey. I never really care about that stuff just as long as it works.
I had a few rocky starts with the thing. Music seemed to transfer to it rather sluggishly and eventually I was given an error on the player that said necessary system files were missing. I had to do some digging around, but eventually found a firmware update for the player.
After that, I was transferring as much music as possible. I have a love for music in general, so I had every genre on there except country. I mixed up play lists and took the thing everywhere I went.
The sound was great unless I came to a song that had extra bass in it. This was typically any Rap song. The sound would crackle a little unless I turned the bass down and turned the treble up. I got the same results with different types of headphones. Lame.
The day the player died
After a long car trip, the player died. Recharging it did not fix the problem.
The rest of the story of how the player was toast and the 42-day response time of iRiver Support is chronicled in another article. |
